Excerpt

What’s wrong? Does hearing that they’re with someone else bother you?”
“No! Of course not!” Just as quickly, I meet his gaze. “I wish I could erase what happened.”
He strolls slowly toward me, his scrutiny of the barn now shifted fully to me. To my face, and then lower, over the buttons of my dress that run from neck to knee. The dress does very little for my figure, though Celeste did put in darts at the chest to give it at least a bit of shape. “Why? Because you didn’t enjoy it?”
I open my mouth to say “yes,” but falter, because that would be a lie. I did enjoy it. “Because I don’t want you to be mad at me.”
“I let you go. I have no right to be mad at you for what happened.”
              “So it doesn’t bother you?”
“That you were with someone else? I fucking hat it. Every time I think about it, it’s like a punch to my gut.” He heaves a sigh, reaching up to run his finger along the collar of my dress. “But I’m not angry with you. I’m angry with myself for ever allowing things to go the way they did. Had I been completely open with you, had I put you before myself and Wolf Hotels, we could have avoided it all.”
His fingers leave my dress to wipe the tear that slipped from my eye. “I’ll try not to bring it up again. Okay?”
My head bobs up and down. I slide off the bale of hay and reach for him, needing to feel his mouth on mine, his body against mine. I press myself against him and rope my arms around his neck, pulling him into my mouth, trying to convey how badly I want him, how much I feel, with each graze of my lip, with each stroke of my tongue.
“You can’t start this now, Abbi,” he growls between kisses, his arms tightening around me, pulling me closer to him. I feel him growing hard against me.
“Why not?” It comes out in a painful moan.
“Because I have to go if I want to get to New York tonight, and we both know your mother would not be okay with his happening under her roof. Neither would your father. I can’t disrespect them like that.”
“It’s the barn, not the house,” I counter with a pout. He’s right.
And yet I can’t just let him go. I’ve been watching him all day long, sneaking in touches wherever I can, thinking about kissing him but unable to, imagining him undressed in front of me, remembering what it looks like when he strokes himself for me at night.
I’m completely wound up, and no amount of touching myself is going to satisfy me.
Plus, who knows when I’ll see him again!
“Hold on a second.” I pry myself away from him and dart over to the open doors. It looks like the last of the revelers have left. All the cars are gone, even the Enderbeys’. I can see Mama moving about in the kitchen. No doubt Daddy’s in his bed already, exhausted from the day.
My stomach flutters with excitement. “Follow me.” I smile at him as I head to the other side, the one that faces the open fields. The sun’s just dipping below the horizon, leaving streaks of hazy pink and purple, promising another hot day tomorrow.
“What’s out here?” he asks, eyeing the stack of hay that’s sitting just outside the door. It’s a nice place to sit and rest after a long day.
“No roof.” I smile as I reach up to unfasten the top button of my dress.
              He smirks. “Sex by semantics?”
“It’s the only way.” I drop my voice to a soft lull. “And I need you.”

Oh my goodness ya'll!!!

I LOVED this book so much.

I remember back after the first book in this series came out I was a little leary to start it. (Even if everyone was freaking out about how good it was. Stupid me for not just blindly trusting them. They don't normally steer me wrong haha)

But seriously I remember going man do I really want to get into this this? And then Book one went on sale for free on Amazon and there I was diving right into Abbi and Henry's story. And I couldn't put it down! Like 2 days tops it took me to read. And honestly Wolf Prey went about the same way.

Nina has this was of completely captivating you as a reader, and draws you into her stories. Like there were times I was so wrapped up with everything going on with Abbi that I forgot to even check the time sometimes. And when I finally looked at the clock I realized I had been reading for hours straight.
But aren't the books like that the best ones out there? The ones that can so fully amerce you that it's like being a part of the story yourself. You can so clearly see the pages unfolding in your mind that it's almost like watching it happen rather than reading it (although I guess that's the beauty of reading. What it has the ability to do)

But it's not just Nina's beautifully seductive writing that does the job either.
It's her ability to create these intricate multi dimensional characters too.

I found myself so wrapped up in everything Abbi would go through. I would grow attached to Henry and then want to smack the guy too hehe.
They would make me feel so invested in their stories. So ready to choose a side and want to fight fr that character to have what they wanted. And then the addition of Jed (Which BTW I don't like that name. No clue why... I just don't. Maybe too many scary movies where the hillbilly crazy is named Jed or something ha!)

And yes even Abbi's overbearing quite aggravating mother was a good character. In her own way. I think it takes  alot of talent to write characters that we want to dislike sometimes. The ones that well I know I do this, want to reach into the book and freaking wring their necks (and I'm not talking about those annoying female characters I'm always complaining about. I dislike them for far different reasons)

Something else I just want to add about this whole thing was my adoring affections for Henry. I go back and forth how I feel about these alpha type characters. Love them hate them. Love them hate them. It's a cycle. Usually I start off as any sort of feminist would going don't take that garbage from him lady. He can't boss you around like that. You have a say you have an opinion and demands too. And yeah... That feminist crud tends to disappear pretty quickly and I totally cave adoring the hot dude, grumbling the whole time hehe. But seriously. I love those characters. There is just something about them that is so hot and so controlled. And that was Henry. I remember back in Wolf Bait being like girl run. Run far. You don't need no man like that (How stupidly naive I was) because I found myself rooting for Henry in this book. Absolutely hating Jeb on principal because he was not Henry in fact. (Yeah yeah there were a few things I liked about Jeb... *grumbles)
But seriously Like there's a few parts in particular where Henry asserted himself and man I was a total puddle of goo. It was so hot and would lead to even hotter sexy times*swoon
That man is just prime HOTT man, and I really loved how well Nina wrote him. How much personality and mystery she was able to give us while not making me feel like I wasn't getting him. Like I needed to break him down to figure him out (Although let's be honest it's me... So of course I was looking for things about him that probably weren't even there. Me ever the detective haha!)

And lets not forget about Abbi. I really really like her. (Yes yes get your gasping and shock over with now. I do tend to like SOME female characters)
something just clicked between her and I though. I felt so many things reading her story as it went. I would feel happy for her, and sad, and outraged on her behalf when her mom got all overprotective/overbearing crazy.
I loved that I bonded to this character when I really didn't expect that I would so much at the start of this series. So I have a really healthy respect for Nina, and her giving me this strong character I could follow and enjoy through the books.

So while I know this review is a tad shorter than my normal ones, I just want to add in case it wasn't clear. That I really really truly loved Wolf Prey and do hope that you go out and either start it, or if you haven't picked up book one yet go grab it. You won't be disappointed one bit. Take my word on that ;)

I give WOLF PREY *****5 STARS*****

From the author of the On the Line and Fire on Ice hockey romance series comes a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act. Miranda: Even though I’m broke, putting myself through college, and working two jobs, I’m trying to make the best of it. Meanwhile, Jake Birch, hockey’s hottest bad boy, lives in a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago—and still complains about every little thing in his penthouse. But after I tell him off, instead of getting me fired, Jake requests me as his personal housekeeper. Then he starts flirting with me. Only I’m not flirting back . . . at least, I’m trying not to. Did I mention that he’s hockey’s hottest bad boy? Jake: I’ve met the best woman at the worst possible time. Miranda is the fire to my ice—a sexy, charmingly candid spark who breaks down my walls and reminds me what it’s like to feel again. But I’m being forced to date my team owner’s daughter to keep my job, so I can’t be caught with Miranda. Still, we’re getting closer—until Miranda finds out about my “girlfriend.” And that’s not the only secret I’ve been keeping. But Miranda’s the one I want . . . even if she doesn’t believe me.

EXCERPT REVEAL

Tony doesn’t have much to say this morning. He dismisses the staff and I stifle a groan when I look down at my assignment sheet and see I’ve got the penthouses again. Crap. I still feel guilty about the shirt I ruined in one of the penthouses yesterday. I also don’t want to run into another naked woman. I roll my cart of cleaning supplies onto the service elevator and debate whether I should knock out Jake the stripper f*cker’s room first or put it off ’til last. Might as well get it out of the way. I knock on the door and announce myself more loudly than usual. “Housekeeping! Housekeeping coming in. Are there any naked people in here? Hello?” Nothing. I stood in the middle of the massive suite and look around. There’s a glass on the counter and a gray sweatshirt thrown over the back of a chair. “Hey.” The sound of a deep male voice makes me jump and screech. I actually screech, the cry caught in my throat before it escapes sounding more like a loud wail than a scream. A tall, well-built man is leaning backward out the bathroom door, just his head and shoulders showing. “What the hell?” I put a palm on my chest and will my heart to resume its normal pace. “This is my room,” the man answers. “Yeah, but . . . didn’t you hear me announcing myself?” He steps out of the bathroom wearing nothing but a white towel around his waist and I see that “well built” doesn’t even begin to describe him. His arms, chest and stomach are ripped. I didn’t even know it was possible to have so much definition on ab muscles. “You like the view?” he asks, giving me a cocky grin and glancing down at his bare stomach. “Uh . . .” I clear my throat and look up at his eyes, which are a bright gray-blue. “No, I just . . .” His smile slips away. “What?” Apparently it’s been too long since I saw a man in a nothing but a towel. I can’t even think straight right now. “No,” I repeat, clearing my throat. “No, you don’t like the view?” “It’s okay, I guess.” That’s a lie, but I’m pretty sure this guy’s self-esteem will survive. He hmm’s with amusement. “Want me to drop the towel so you can get a closer look?” “No. No, definitely . . . no.” I shake my head for emphasis. “Okay,” he says, arching his brows and giving me a look that makes me sure he thinks I’m crazy. “Yes, I heard you announce yourself, but I need to talk to you so I didn’t want you to leave.” Oh God. He knows I stole his shirt. I give him an expectant look, trying to decide if I should own up to it or deny it. Deny, deny, deny. I can’t afford to lose this job. “You guys f*cked up the stuff I requested,” he says, walking over to the suite’s kitchen area. I follow him, not noticing the outline of his very nice ass against the towel. Not noticing it at all. “I don’t want liters of Evian,” he says, gesturing at the bottles of water on the counter. “I want normal sized bottles. Sixteen ounces or whatever. And this”—he holds up a bottle of amber alcohol—“is not gonna work. I’m not a frat boy. I asked for Evan Williams 23 and I want Evan Williams 23. I drink a shot of 23 after every win. This is really important.” Not missing a beat, he moves on to the next thing. “I also need Irish Spring soap.” “Irish Spring?” He gives me an annoyed glare. “I’ve used that soap since high school. I hate that flowery shit you guys have in your bathrooms.” “And you want us to get these items for you?” “Right. I’ll pay for everything, plus your time. I’ve got a rigorous schedule and I don’t have time to run around shopping. My housekeeper usually takes care of this stuff.” Wow. I can see why this guy hooks up with random strippers. What woman would want to put up with him long term?

Release Blitz/Review: Porn Star By: Zara Cox

I just want to start off my giving a huge thank you to the team over at Forever Romance for sending out the ARC for this beauty. And for putting together such a n awesome release tour. Ya'll are absolutely amazing to us bloggers and I can't thank you enough :D

Zara Cox brings her self-published novel to Forever as the start of a sexy new series.

People call me many things: CEO, billionaire, bastard. Q.
I love women. I love sex. I love money. I love hot, wild nights with no promise of a future, because a future is one thing I don't have. I'm twenty-eight years old. I won't live to see thirty, and I don't care. Or I didn't, until her.

Nobody plans for a life like this. Some of us just end up here.
They call me Lucky, though luck has never been on my side. Before I met Q, my life was a big, twisted mess. Never enough money, never anyone to trust. No way out. With Q, the shame and fear disappear. Instead I feel pure pleasure, and that's something I've never had before. But if what I've just learned is true, we'd better enjoy every second together while we can...before our time runs out.

Previously published as I, Porn Star.

BUY THE BOOK HERE

I'm kinda at a loss for words after this one. I  Never really know what I'm getting into with books like Porn Star. I know they are going to be good, but I also realize they are probably going to push my comfort zone on my normal cute little romance books. So my fear is that I'll wind up starting it and then not being able to finish... But this book wasn't like that at all. I really loved the story and while yes  few things I just kinda quickly skimmed over (My bad hehe) I really did enjoy this book

I loved the air of mystery both Quinn and Elly had throughout the story and the romance was pretty HOTT and.... interesting I guess lmbo.

But I also found myself shying away from this book at times too (Yeah yeah I know I said I loved it. And I did but I also said I skimmed a few parts so those would be where I'm talking about now haha).
I sometimes have a hard time finishing these dom style books. and while this one wasn't BDSM and all that, there were still a few things that I just kinda skipped right over (Yaayyy I'm repeating myself now. Sorry ya'll). Yeah I'm a traditional kinda girl sometimes haha.

But just so ya'll know a majority of that sort of stuff was steamy and pretty sexy. And made for an entertaining story.

I also really enjoyed the characters in this book. as I said, Quinn is way mysterious. and at a few points I was ready to flip to the end of the book just to find out what his end game was. (It was driving me crazy to not know!!)
He drew me into his dark shadowed world and I didn't want to come out.

Zara had a way of making me feel so much hurt and sympathy for this character. He broke my heart at times seeing his pain, but also made me smile at a lot of his tender moments towards Elly, even if he is kinda controlling and domineering.
Plus hes a pretty sexy sounding Book BF lmbo. I dig the look Zara described him having hehe.

I also really loved Elly too.
She's the kinda character you want to root for. You want to see her get her HEA after getting dealt such a crap hand. I could feel her emotions and my heart just broke for her a few times too.

But she's also so strong, and so brave. She Sticks up for the people she cares about no matter what the risk, and I really respected that in a character.
I also really liked how sassy Elly was. While she had a healthy respect to be cautious of Quinn and Q. She also wasn't afraid to ask questions or sort of put her foot down when something worried her or she wasn't sure of it.

And I guess I should talk about this whole Quinn and Q thing. I'm trying to be as less spoiler-y as possible.
Both men intrigued me. We have Quinn the super uptight and intimidating CEO business man, and then we have the pretty dominating secretive Q who we never get to really see his face or know much about.
He's super secretive and to be honest I give Elly a lot of props for trusting him the way she did. She essentially let in a complete stranger she knew NOTHING about into her life and gave him her up most trust too. Although I'm still on the fence on if that was smart or not haha (But I guess it's a novel and not real so stranger trusting isn't such a big deal here hehe)
And while I really found myself liking both of them, I was definitely more drawn to Quinn, but that's probably because in my world he's much safer than the masked mysterious Q.
Plus I just love my broody hot business men hehe ;P

When you read the book you're going to want to come back and smack me, I know it. Because I'm being all secretive and stuff and I just know ya'll are going to be like really?
And sorry ya'll... But like I said. Trying to keep some big things from this one secretive for as long as possible for ya.

I love that I was so drawn into this twisted and dark world Zara created though. She seriously spun just enough details to draw me in and hold me captive, so I couldn't put the book down.

When I say I had a mad case of trying to flip to the end to see what was going to happen I wasn't kidding. The urge was so strong in this one (totally just felt like Darth Vader there for a sec ya'll hehe)

So I guess what I leave you with is that all in all this story was really good. I know my review is slightly depressing. I don't mean it to be especially since I'm giving this one 5 stars and really did enjoy it so much.
but I'm being super honest with what I think I guess.

I give PORN STAR *****5 STARS*****

Excerpt

“So it’s true? It’s not a con? This job really pays a million dollars? For…sex?” she rasps.
“You think I’d admit it if it was a con? What did the ad say?”
Her delicate jaw flexes for a second.
“One million uninhibited reasons to take a leap.
One million chances to earn a keep
One million to give in to the carnal
Are you brave enough to surrender,
For a payday to remember?”
It speaks even more to her desperate state of mind that she remembers the ad verbatim.
I remain silent and wait for her to speak.
“So…assuming it’s not a con, how will this work, then?”
“If you pass the next few tests, and I decide you’re a good fit, you get the gig. You’ll receive one hundred thousand dollars with each performance.”
“So…ten performances…over how long a period?”
“Depending on how many takes are needed, anywhere between three weeks and a month. But I should warn you, it’s hard work, Lucky. If you think you’re just going to lie back and recite the Star Spangled Banner in your head, think again.”
Her fingers drum on the table, the first sign of nerves she’s exhibited. “I…I won’t be doing anything…skanky, will I?”
“Define skanky.”
“This is going to be straight up sex. No other…bodily stuff? Because that would a firm no for me.”
My mouth attempts another twitch. “No water works, waste matter or bestiality will be involved in the performances.”
Her fingers stop drumming. “Okay.” She waits a beat, stares straight into the camera. “So when will I know?”
I hear the barely disguised urgency and I rub my finger over my lip again. “Soon. I’ll be in touch within the week.” I’m not sure exactly why I want to toy with her. But I sense that having her on edge would add another layer of excitement I badly need.
When she opens her mouth, I interrupt. “Goodbye, Lucky.”
A passing thought about the origin of her name is crushed into oblivion. I press the remote to summon the bodyguard to escort her out, and I leave the room.
In my study a few minutes later, I bring up the screen on my desk and activate the encrypted service I need. I open the application and within minutes, the members of my exclusive gentlemen’s club are logging in.
My email is short and succinct.
The next Q Production is scheduled for release on 20 May 2015.
Limited to ten members.
Bidding starts in fifteen minutes.
I start the countdown and rise to pour myself a neat bourbon. I swallow the first mouthful with two prescribed tablets, which are meant to keep me from going over the edge, apparently, and stroll to the floor to ceiling window. I look down at Midtown’s bumper-to-bumper traffic. This mid-level penthouse is one of many I own in this building and around New York City.
Technically, I don’t live here. I only use it when volatile pressures demand that I put some distance between the Upper West Side family mansion and myself. I would never stray far for long. For one thing, I’ve accepted that my family would never leave me alone.
I know what I know. So they’ve made it their business to keep me on a short leash. But with over three hundred properties in my personal portfolio, and a few thousand more under the family firm’s control, there are many places to disappear to when the demons howl.
Today, the Midtown penthouse is my temporary haven.
I turn when the timer beeps a one-minute warning.
I return to my desk and adjust the voice distorter. When the clock reaches zero, I click the mouse. “Gentlemen, start your bids.”
My words barely trail off before the first five bids appear on the screen. Sixty seconds later, the total bid is at a quarter of a million dollars. I steeple my fingers and wish I were more excited. The money means nothing. It never has. It’s the end game that excites me.
My mind drifts back to Lucky. I turn the gem of her elusiveness this way and that and admit to myself she has potential.
I want to take a scalpel to all her secrets, bleed them and soil my hands with the viscera. I also want to fuck her until her body gives out. Right in this moment, I’m not sure what I want more.
So I concentrate on the numbers racing higher on the screen.
Half a million. One million. One point five.
My phone beeps twice. I pick it up and read the two appointment reminders on the screen.
7pm – Dr. Nathanson. My shrink.
9pm - Dinner with Maxwell.
I re-confirm the first and delete the second.
Cancelling dinner with Maxwell will bring a world of irritation to my doorstep. No one cancels dinner with Maxwell Blackwood. For a start he’s one of the most powerful men in the country.
He’s also my father.
Yeah, my name is Quinn Blackwood, heir to the Blackwood Estate, only child of Maxwell Blackwood and Adele Blackwood (deceased). My family owns a staggering amount of property across the eastern seaboard of the United States and a few in the west. According to the bean counters, I’m personally worth twenty-six billion dollars.
But tangling with my father in hell is what I live for. Have done since I was fifteen. So I ignore his summons and watch the stragglers fall away until I’m left with the top ten bidders. The bids wind down, and within the space of half an hour, I’m just under two million dollars richer.
I spot the familiar name of the top bidder and I sneer. Taking his money on top of everything else is darkly satisfying.
Once bidding ends, I close down the application and call up another list. Dozens of charity websites showing pictures of starving children flood my screen. Within minutes, fifty charities are the grateful recipients of two million dollars.
I may be Quinn Blackwood, occasional user of prescribed meds to keep the demons in check, who moonlights as Q, porn star to an exclusive few who pay millions for my work.
And I may be an unhinged asshole with serious daddy issues.
But no one said I wasn’t a giver.
