Opposition By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hey ya'll sorry for such little posting this past month. Between going on vacation for a few weeks and getting stuff ready for the new semester it has been pretty busy around here. I still owe you guys a  couple winners from our blog birthday and June giveaways and I swear those will be up hopefully today or tomorrow.

For the next couple weeks as I get settled into my new routine for the semester posts could be a little spotty and at published at some odd times. Please just give me a little time to get back in the swing of things and everything should be good soon :)

So to kick things off I am getting my review for Opposition by Jenn Armentrout posted.
If you haven't read her Lux series yet you seriously need to get to a book store, Target or Walmart and pick the books up. They are amazing and you guys will seriously love them. Actually the books are now available in companion like books where the first will include book 1 and 2 and then the second will offer books 3 and 4. These new combined books are called Lux Beginnings and Lux Consequences. So it is actually easier for you to get a hold of the books now. Sorry for that bit of a side note. Just some helpful info for ya'll.

Back to Opposition: Which not only is the fifth and final book but also includes the prequel Shadows that was only available in E-print originally.

Overview:
Opposition
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can’t believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
Shadows
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. To him, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous.
Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated.
Dawson can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or stop a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself. (From B&N)

Where to start where to start. I have been waiting it seems like forever for this amazing book. And actually I was able to get my hands on it a few days early thinks to the awesome people at Books-A-Million.

After getting it early while in Florida on vacation it took me almost a week to bring myself to actually pick up the book and read it. Don't ask me the exact reason because I'm not for sure I can tell you, but I really think it was some mental thing with not wanting the series to end. I found these book sometime soon after the third book Opal came out and painstakingly waited for the last two books to be out over the past few years. The series will seriously suck you in and it did that exact thing to me. I fell in love with Daemon and Katy and all their Luxen friends and I have to say I am incredibly sad to see them go. That said I am 132% sure that Opposition was a spectacular ending to it all. Armentrout wrote a beautiful conclusion that tied up everything, leaving no lose ends and an ending you could never begin to guess. Like I said I am sad to see the books end but I don't think you could ask for anything better.

The end of the world is what it looks like at the start of this book. Aliens invading, people dying, whole cities being taken over.

And Katy, Beth, Luc, and Archer have no earthly idea where Daemon, Dee, or Dawson are or what side they choose now that the Luxen have landed.
I have to say the first couple chapters or so I just couldn't get into the book. (Like I said though I was going through some emotional drama on this book anyways.) After several days of pushing through like 2 chapters, I finally just sat down while babysitting my sick nephew and wound up coming up for air several hours later and over half way done. (Actually there were several breaks where I took care of the adorable kid, but you get what I mean)

Once I finally got to a good point in my head where I was ready to read this story it took no time to finish. A day to be exact, which is actually pretty normal for a book like this I have been dying to read. Opposition is fast paced and a whole lot of exiting whit and drama. I lost count of the amount of smart ass comments Daemon made throughout the book and just so you know all were extremely funny and had me laughing out loud while my family gave me weird looks.

One of the many things I loved about this book was the way that Jenn could still build her characters. After 4 previous books she still found a way to add extra layers of depth to all of them. While the main 3 or 4 characters had been pretty well explained in previous books, but there were some newer ones that at the end of Origin who we still had a lot of questions about. Archer and Luc being the main two. The two Origins still held a crap ton of mystery and I have to say while Luc creeptasticly creeped me out at times, I really did find myself liking Archer the more he was around. More so in Opposition as the relationship between him and Daemon grew to epically funny proportions. Talk about a seriously building bromance ya'll. Plus I am totally on team Dee and Archer, they are adorable together.
Like I said The original characters like Katy, Daemon, Dee, and Dawson had a lot of their personalities and history already explained but there were definitely a few times where their character added a level of complexity that allowed you to empathize with them on a much better level.

I know this review seems a bit vague. That is not my intention but I am trying extremely hard here not to give anything away. Because in all reality my love for this book would be a long winded retelling of the whole thing to try to get you to go read it even though I just gave away all of the best parts.

Well I guess something that I can Talk about in all his glorious Alien glory is Daemon Black. Aside from Patch from Hush Hush Daemon is by far one of my favorite book boyfriends. (Kaidan from Sweet evil is ranked pretty high on that list too just so everyone knows)

Seriously if this hot hunky alien were a real person I might just die. His quick smart ass whit and loving personality draws me in. Plus who doesn't love a hot alien with a body an Abercrombie model would be jelly of. (Not me hehe)

I love the way he treats Katy though, which is rather funny if you have read this series and know how opposite that is from Obsidian, where if you searched the phrase douche canoe on Google you would find a picture of Daemon black staring back at you. He has come a long way ya'll and melted my heart in the process. While his attitude towards Katy and humans in general has progressed through the series the smart ass-ery and overall funny demeanor never did. Still popping off sarcastic comments when irritated (Which is practically the whole time) and whispering sexy as hell innuendos to Katy we see that total world destruction can't keep a sexy beast down. plus his love for his siblings is something to be admired as well. Even after a certain spunky alien sister goes to the dark side Daemon never gives up on her and tries his hardest to bring her back and keep her safe. He also does the same for his brother and Beth.
Plus I kind of touched on it earlier, but Daemon and Archer form this adorable bromance thing and every time the two interacted I found myself cracking up. Archer always being in every ones head made for some pretty great moments. Also if you read the spin off book Obsession about Hunter the Arum you are in luck because he is back. And that whole relationship between he and Daemon offers some great entertainment. Because hey its Daemon and if another guy is present the sarcastic comments are sure to rear their hilarious heads.

I really don't know what else to say other than you need to go get this book or start the series as soon as possible. I know the whole alien thing sounds kinda weird and crazy at first, but this series will seriously make you wish you had geeked out over hot aliens instead of sparkly vampires all those years ago.

I give this book 10 stars and really hope you check it out.
plus be sure to pop by Jenn Armentrout's blog and see what other books she has. Her Covenant series is amazing along with pretty much everything else she writes. You wont be disappointed. Promise.
