Alienated By: Melissa Landers

Hey everyone. So I am hopefully officially back in the blogging ring.
The past few months have been extremely stressful and crazy. Over fall I was in the process of getting settled in after my move this summer from Florida to Georgia. I left my dream college because they no longer offered the means for me to get into the profession I wanted, and it really did effect me in the long run. I was not only looking for a new school, but also considering a change in majors that would have been on a completely different path from the one I was already on, I was just finishing my sophomore year and a major change at that time would have set me back at the least a year of classes. So I decided to take the fall semester off to get my head together allowing me a lot of free time to blog and what not. Once the holidays started though it was a whole different ball game and with the addition of starting classes again until sadly the blog wasn't a top priority. But I am here to say that with the end of the semester approaching in a month I have a bit of free time at least until finals roll around (Kill me now lol) So I am officially all yours In Betweeners.

So lets get this darn thing going hehe

Overview:
Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever L'eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she'll have inside information about the mysterious L'eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara's blog following is about to skyrocket.
Still, Cara isn't sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L'eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn't seem more alien. She's certain about one thing though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.
Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn't just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life-not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet. (From Barns and Noble)

So let me just tell you, for the past month I have been on a huge alien/space kick. Please don't ask why because seriously I have no idea. Other then the occasional hot Luxen I really am not a huge SiFi junkie, but something just spoke to me. Most likely that gorgeous cover. Because lets all admit it, a good cover is like a guy that smells extremely good. They might only be a 3 star just by looking at what their about that but then you get a whiff and BAM! Their now a 5 lol. Ok maybe not the exact thing but pretty close.
Also that new show on CW Starcrossed started the week I read this book, so it was just an alienpalooza for me pretty much. (If you haven't watched the show, you need to. Were talking Vampire Diaries in a hot alien form lol)

So, I adore Cara. She is smart, funny, a little shy and I totally relate to her. When she finds out she is going to get to participate an alien exchange program she has mixed feelings. Getting to host an alien exchange student has to by far be one of the most amazing things you could do right? Not to mention the advantage blogging about the experience would have to push the already debate team captain and valedictorian to the top of the college acceptance list. Becoming an alien exchange student in return has to be an exciting experience as well right? Cara isn't so sure about any of it. Who really wants to live with an alien in the bedroom next to theirs, even if they are the reason your mother is still alive.

Aelyx is the epitome of hot alien and he dose not want to be on earth with a bunch of non-evolved humans. His species has already helped by giving the cancer cure to the humans, and an alliance between the two species seems to be one of the dumbest things possible, even coming from the super intelligent L'eihr leaders. At least that was what he thought before meeting Cara.
Can she change his opinion of humans before its too late? Or will his secret mission ruin everything like he originally wanted?

Alienated takes us on a wild ride, told in dual POV between Cara and Aelyx as they uncover secrets neither of them could have imagined, and try to avoid the murderous mob of once friends and neighbors that not only wants Aelyx dead, but Cara and her family for hosting him. The more time that passes the closer Aelyx and Cara grow, and the more hostile the town becomes.

I loved the chemistry in this book. Its subtle for a majority of the story and really allows you to see what draws Cara and Aelyx together. But what would a book be without drama. Cara's boyfriend and best friend aren't supportive of her new house guest, and Aelyx's L'eihr friends aren't exactly thrilled hes growing close to a human. You will be shocked to see what side everyone chooses when the time comes. With deception running rampant from everyone will the two be able to overcome the building secrets before they destroy them all, or save both of their races before time runs out?

Lander's does an incredible job of bringing the pages of the book to life. A world where L'eihr's exist is one of true creativity and is executed so well that you wouldn't be surprised if the news announced tomorrow the landing of the next round of alien exchange students.

Be sure to also look for Invaded, the sequel to Alienated scheduled to release next February.
