I wanted to say a little note to my mom for this tour. She has been there for me for every every big part of my life. The good, the bad, and everything in between. She has been my rock through all of my hard times, and to be truthful I have been hers.
My parents went through a divorce that was finalized my junior year of high school. And to say it didn't cause me a lot of turmoil when I was growing up would be a lie. My dad moved out when I was in middle school and it was pretty much just me and my mom from then on out. I have two older siblings that were also there  but they live out of state so it made things harder for them to be there.
While things weren't easy some of my best memories are with my mom. She did everything she could for me and and we had a lot of fun. We would take trips and find things to do around the house all the time. She was at every chorus performance, softball game, and school event I can think of. And not once complained about being chauffeur to my friends and I before I started driving. She was like a second mom to all of my friends and they all fondly call her Mama Rit to this day.
She has her faults like any mom would but I have learned to take them for what they are. I still have my moments even at 21 where I act like a crazy pissed off 16 year old, but really i have a respect and love for her I will never lose.
I love her and I don't know what I would do without the crazy lady. She has literally been the one person in my life I rely on the most. Through all the ups and downs I would be completely lost without her.
I hope that she has an amazing mothers day
Love you mama :D

Way old picture, but aww look at me as an ugly baby with that spaceman hehe

This is my 2 siblings and our mom. Its from a few years back but we are quite a crazy bunch as you can see hehe

A Mom for Umande by Maria Faulconer

The heart-tugging true story of how a baby gorilla found love in the arms of a surrogate mom. When Umande was born, his mother didn’t know how to take care of him. So, he was hand-reared by keepers at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. For eight months, the keepers crawled on the ground with him to show him how to walk; coughed in his face to teach him discipline; and gave him happy gorilla grumbles to encourage him. But for Umande, something was still missing. Luckily, a thousand miles away at the Columbus Zoo, a mom was waiting just for him. This touching true story about finding a family will resonate with animal lovers and adoptive families alike. Illustrated by Susan Kathleen Hartung

Celebrating Sci-Fy With TWCS: Guest Post T.M. Franklin's More Series

Say NO to REALITY!
This May, TWCS is paying tribute to the SciFy genre in honor of the EPIC Star Wars series and LEGENDARY The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, amongst others...

Hey ya'll I get the spectacular privilege to get to show you a little about my favorite TWCS author T. M. Franklin

She is the author of the More series, and I have a fun little post from her.

Hope ya'll enjoy and will go out and pick up her books today.

I found T.M. a year or so ago during a book blitz and fell in love with her amazing books. Since than I have followed the series and even had the opportunity to be on the blog tour for Twelve, the third book in the series when it came out. Obviously I am hooked hehe :P

So without farther ado here is T.M.'s guest post

Keeping it YA

A lot of people ask why I chose to write the MORE Trilogy as a young adult series. In fact, many say it should really be "new adult" since the characters are in college, but more on that later. As for why I wanted to write YA, it was really pretty simple: I wanted something I would feel comfortable sharing with my sons, who were teenagers at the time.

But what does it take to keep a paranormal romance in the YA realm?

Actually, I believe writing for a young adult audience isn't all that different from writing for adults, especially when you consider that a large portion of YA readers are, in fact, over eighteen. Although YA fiction is traditionally published or marketed for teenagers, a study by Publisher’s Weekly shows that 55% of YA book buyers are over eighteen, with the biggest chunk—about 28%—between the ages of 35 and 44.

After all, look at some of the popular releases lately on the big screen: The Divergent Series, The Maze Runner, The Fault in Our Stars - and The Mortal Instruments has now been slated to become a TV series. What do these stories all have in common? Young characters and a plot that gets us emotionally invested or keeps us on the edge of our seat.

So what makes a YA book? Well the most obvious answer is the age of the characters. Most people say that if a main character is between the ages of 13 and 18, it's a YA book. However, I tend to believe that labeling a story "young adult" is more about the expectation of content. I liken it to a PG-13 movie - you know when you go to see one that you might get some mild violence, kissing, a couple of swear words, whereas with a rated R movie, you'd expect more graphic content. I mean, consider the movies noted above. All are rated PG-13.

That's why the MORE Trilogy is labeled YA, even though the main character, Ava Michaels, is nineteen years old and a college freshman (and Caleb, the hero, is considerable older.)

“You’ve heard the myths,” he said to the tabletop where his fingertip drew absent designs. “The Titans, the Nephilim . . . larger-than-life heroes and villains who fill up your history books. Mythology that’s not so much mythology, if the truth were to be known. We are part of that myth . . . the fairy tales come to life, so to speak.”

“That’s . . .” Ava sputtered. “That’s just . . .” Ava’s head spun as she tried to disbelieve, tried to write off what he was saying as ridiculous, a ploy to distract her from her present troubles. But she found she couldn’t. As incredible as it sounded, she knew—deep down—that Caleb was telling her the truth. “So . . .” Her voice cracked and she cleared her throat, took a sip of her drink. “You’re some kind of . . . gods?”

Caleb chuckled. “Hardly,” he said, shaking his head then running a hand through his hair, damp from the drizzle outside. “We’re really not that different from you. Our scientists have studied our DNA, compared the two races extensively, and we’re really more alike than different. There are just a few genetic quirks that set us apart from ordinary humans.”

“But, where did you come from?”

“That’s the age-old question, isn’t it?” he said with a smile. “Where did you come from? It’s what we all want to know, and nobody does for sure. Most people believe that our race developed alongside yours—with a few evolutionary glitches along the way. Some say we were created like you, but with a little extra pinch of this and that by whoever did the creating.” He winked, and Ava couldn’t help but smile, even in the midst of such a strange conversation.

She tilted her head, studying him for a moment. “And what do you believe?”

“Me?” He sat back in the chair, head falling back on his shoulders as his eyes hit the ceiling. “I think that essentially, we’re human,” he said after a long moment. “Just a little bit . . .” He searched for the right word. “More.

- MORE, Chapter 8

The MORE Trilogy is a fast-pasted adventure, with a slow-building romance, but steers clear of graphic violence and sexual content, making it safe for young teens - but enjoyable for adults as well.

After all, regardless of their age, all readers want a good story!

Review:
Let me just start by saying thanks to St. Martin's Press for sending me a galley copy of this book for review on Netgalley. I really appreciate how how great you guys have been to me :)

Ahhh this book!!!!!!!

It was ah-maz-ing!!

I thought the first book in the series Frostfire was great. But this one was so so so much better.
Not only does the story get more complicated and crazy, but we also finally get to see somewhat into who is pulling all the strings, and causing the impending war for the Kanin.
Also I love how we get to see a bit more into some of the other characters lives like Kasper and Tilda in particular. I loved those two's relationship. They were adorable and so good together. Plus as Bryne and Kasper work together we get to see a little more into the Hogdragen and how they operate. And Bryne gets to see a little into how it would be if she were to join.

But I will warn ya'll right now, there is a big ohhhh crap! moment at the end of this one. For so many reasons too. I wanted to chuck my nook across the room at one point in particular , and I'm sure once you read this book you will know exactly the one I'm talking about.

And let me just say, there is someone in the book who had been giving me bad vibes from book one and I saw called them being the one behind everything. The so called big surprise string puller. While it hasn't actually been said it was implied and...
I just want to take a moment to say, YES!!!!!!! I knew it! I knew it!

My friends and I always joke that I have this crazy book mojo/psychic thing where I can guess what is going to happen only a chapter or two into the book. I've only been wrong once or twice, and I swear it was because the author and me are friends and she was changing things on purpose to screw with me hehe. (Love you Em) But actually in the end I wound up guessing a chapter or so before the end on how things were going to go down. My book mojo was spot on this time though and there is nothing better than the feeling of knowing you guessed it right ;)

And oh gawd! we get more Ridley in this book! Thank sweet baby Jesus, mother Mary, and heaven above!!!! Hehe. I love that boy so much, he is my new favorite book boyfriend. The now Overste (The officer in charge of commanding the soldiers in times of war. The new name for the Rektor) while not in the book as much as I would have preferred is even more hot and sexy then he was in book one. There are definitely some hot and steamy scenes that made me all gooey inside and and get excited about *sigh
I have definitely been team "Brynley" from page one of this series lol

But as I kinda talked about a little before, there are going to be some crazy things going down in this book. Prince Kennet of the Skojare will be back, more flirtatious than ever. But there will be some unexpected secrets the Skojare are keeping, and they will lead to this books pretty epic ending.
A lot will be left unanswered till book three and I have to say I need to know what is going to happen nowwww!!! I am terrible at waiting, I can admit to that lol

I give Ice Kissed:

FOUR

compunction

The wind had calmed down some, so I left my jacket open, letting the air freeze the sweat that still stuck to me. After we’d finished training for the day, Ember had insisted that I join her for a treat at the bakery in the town square, saying we’d earned it. Tilda had to finish up some paperwork, and then she planned to meet us so we could talk more in depth about her wedding plans.
My muscles already ached and my right wrist cracked loudly every time I moved it, but I wasn’t sure I felt like I’d earned anything. The day left me feeling more like a failure than I already had.
Several inches of snow had piled up while we’d been working. Although there were still tracks from people and animals braving the weather, the streets were mostly deserted. The Kanin could handle whatever the weather threw at them, but that didn’t mean they were masochists. Most of us knew when it was worth it to stay in by the fire.
But Ember didn’t seem to mind. She just pulled her hat down over her ears and trudged through the snow banks.
“You were awfully quiet today,” Ember commented as we made our way down to the bakery.
I shrugged. “I was just training.”
“It’s more than that.” She paused before adding, “You know no one blames you.”
“Some people do.”
Ember scoffed. “Those people are stupid. Everyone who knows you knows that you did everything you could to stop Viktor DÃ¥lig and Konstantin.”
We’d been outside long enough that the cold had started to get to me, but I didn’t zip up my jacket. I just clenched my jaw, refusing to let my teeth chatter.
An oversized white husky was digging through the garbage outside the butcher shop. Large snowflakes clung to his thick fur. He looked at me as we passed by, his bright blue eyes seeming to look straight through me, and a chill ran down my spine. I quickly looked away.
“What if I didn’t do everything I could?” I asked.
Ember was so startled that she halted. “What? What are you talking about?”
“I mean, I did.” I turned back to face her, since I had walked a few steps after she’d stopped, and behind her I saw the husky had returned to rooting through the trash buried beneath the snow.
Ember narrowed her eyes. “Then what are you saying?”
“I don’t know.” I let out a deep breath, and it was shaky from the cold. I turned my head toward the sky, blinking back the snowflakes that hit my lashes. “I did everything I could, but it wasn’t good enough. So then . . . what does it matter?”
There was something more to it than that, though. Something I couldn’t explain to Ember.
Viktor DÃ¥lig had beaten me, that was true. The sight of him had been like encountering a ghost, and I’d been in shock, so he’d been able to get the best of me. That didn’t mean I hadn’t wanted to stop him, but it had been my fault for letting myself be caught off guard, even for a moment.
But Viktor had wanted to kill me. When he’d smashed my head into the stone, he’d been trying to execute me—I knew that with absolute certainty. But he hadn’t succeeded, and I had a feeling that I had Konstantin Black to thank for being alive.
Run, white rabbit, as fast and far as you can, he’d whispered when I came upon him in the dungeon. Even though he’d been escaping, he’d looked so defeated then—his gray eyes soft and mournful, his entire body sagging, his olive skin going pale beneath the shadow of his beard. Konstantin hadn’t wanted me to get hurt.
I’d been convinced that Konstantin had been working for someone, that his attack on my father and his plots to go after changelings weren’t his idea. In Storvatten, he’d even said as much to me, telling me that he’d done it all for love. Whatever that meant.
“What happened in Storvatten?” Ember stepped closer to me. “You never even told me about Viktor DÃ¥lig. I’ve had to hear everything through other people,” she added, trying not to sound hurt that I hadn’t confided in her more.
“What have you heard?” I tilted my head, curious to know what people were saying.
“That he surprised you and overpowered you, and then he escaped with Konstantin,” she explained with a weak shrug. “Is there anything more to it than that? Did Viktor say anything to you?”
The butcher leaned out the back door of his shop and banged loudly on a metal pan, scaring the husky. The dog gave one hungry glance in my direction before running off and dis- appearing into the snow.
“No. He didn’t say anything.” I shook my head. “But...”
“But what?”
The wind came up a bit, blowing my blond waves of hair in front of my face, and I brushed them back absently. Ember pulled her jacket tighter around her, but she kept her dark eyes locked on me.
“I can’t help but feel like if I’d found the Queen, I’d have some answers,” I said finally, deciding that part of the truth was better than admitting that I didn’t think Konstantin was as evil as I once had.
“The Skojare Queen?” Her brow pinched, not understanding. “I thought she was dead.”
“That’s the theory,” I said. “I wanted to look for her more, but the Skojare King called off the search, and Ridley said there wasn’t anything left for us to do.”
“If the Skojare King doesn’t want you looking anymore, then Ridley’s right,” Ember said.
“I know, but . . .” I chewed my lip. “If I could find Linnea, I think I could find out what Konstantin is up to.”
If you find her, and that’s assuming she’s even alive,” Ember pointed out. I lowered my eyes but didn’t say anything. “And you have direct orders to stay here and prepare for war. You can’t go off on some kind of wild-goose chase at a time like this.”
“I know.” I let out a reluctant sigh. “I just hate feeling so useless.”
“Everything that’s happened lately has to have been rough on you.” Ember looped her arm through mine and started leading me away, toward the bakery. “But that doesn’t mean you’re useless. You’re strong and you’re smart. You’re a great soldier, and that’s important too.”
We rounded the corner, and the sweet scent of pastries wafted through the air. My stomach rumbled, and I realized I’d skipped lunch that day. I’d been so focused on my training that I’d completely forgotten about it.
I began fantasizing about a delicious blackberry tart—a wonderful combination of sweet and bitter, with an emphasis on the bitter. But my momentary good mood immediately soured when the door to the bakery opened, and Juni Sköld stepped out into the snow.
It wasn’t exactly the sight of her that made me freeze in my tracks. Juni worked at the bakery, so I shouldn’t have been that surprised to see her here. She had to be one of the nicest people in all of Doldastam, and her luminescent skin literally radiated with happiness and kindness.
It was who she was with, and what she meant to him, that made me stop cold. Following right behind her was Ridley Dresden. He still wore his uniform, so he’d come here right from work to walk his girlfriend home.
“What’s wrong?” Ember asked. Since her arm was looped with mine, she’d been forced to stop alongside me.
Juni was laughing at something Ridley had said, but then she turned, and as soon as she spotted us her smile widened. Ridley, on the other hand, looked stricken at the sight of me.
I’m certain that part of it was because he was still angry at me. But another part was probably because he’d kissed me— twice—since he’d been dating Juni. The first time was only a few short blocks from here, and it had been so passionate and so intense that even thinking about it now made my pulse race and my stomach swirl with butterflies.
“Bryn!” Juni exclaimed, walking over to me while Ridley trailed several slow steps behind her. “It’s so good to see you! How are you holding up?”
“I’m . . .” I couldn’t even muster a fake smile.
Seeing her sheer delight and genuine concern for my well- being made me recognize that I had to be one of the worst beings who ever lived. And that was combined with the way Ridley was acting right then—shoving his hands in his pockets, avoiding looking at me at all costs. When his eyes finally did manage to land on me, his gaze was so harsh I felt about two inches tall.
“We’ve had a long day,” Ember supplied, since it seemed that I would stand there forever without saying anything.
“I’m just cold,” I said suddenly. “I think I should get inside.”
“Well, you stay warm,” Juni said, but she looked puzzled. “And take care.”
“Thanks, you too.” I ducked my head down and hurried toward the bakery as fast as I could.
“Why didn’t you say anything to her?” I heard Juni ask Ridley as I pulled open the door. “Are you two fighting?”

I practically ran inside the bakery so I wouldn’t have to hear his answer.
